10 students suspended in MBSTU

The authorities of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University suspended 10 students of Food Technology and Nutrition Department (FTNS) for allegedly vandalizing classroom and office and insulting their teachers.

They were also asked to explain within three working days as to why they “should not be expelled permanently” from the university, according to a press release signed by Proctor Muhammad Omar Faruk on Wednesday.

The suspended students are third year’s first-semester students Nurunabbi Sidiqi, K H Al Amin, Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Shamsul Haque, second-semester students Md. Shamimul Hoque, Hossain Mohammad Liton, fourth year’s second-semester students Md. Abdullah Al Hadi, Md. Mouinul Hossain, Md. Mahabub Hassan and first year’s second-semester student Shajib Talukdar.

Earlier on September 12, the students of FTNS department insulted the teachers and vandalized classrooms and the office-rooms, demanding cutbacks on their tuition fees.

Following the incident the teachers of the department started work-stoppage programme.  The classes will resume on September 17.
