11 private universities to be set up

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved 11 new universities to be set up soon. Out of 45 applications UGC approved 11applications after scrutiny. This is based on national education policy2010.

Out going UGC Chairman Prof. Nazrul Islam met President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban yesterday. There he discussed about UGC recommendations.

UGC recommends formation of “Accreditation council” as according to the Private University Act. By forming the ‘Accreditation council’, there will be an assurance of quality education in higher education

He also informed the president that there are 7000 senior teachers in the public universities. These universities need 7000 more experienced teachers.
