Air pollution: Dhaka tops 11 out of 17 days in February

Experts said digging of roads, construction of infrastructure without following rules, movement of unfit vehicles, burning of garbage, irregular sprinkling of water on roads, black smoke from brick kilns etc. are responsible for air pollution in Dhaka.

Professor Kamruzzaman said that every day in Dhaka city, garbage is burnt at an average of 50 places while 100 roads are dug up. Also, innumerable buildings are being constructed in different parts of the city.

In such a situation, air pollution is increasing due to non-compliance of rules. He said that this is having a detrimental effect on public health.
