The delegation of the ruling Awami League (AL) has returned with the impression that the party will get India’s support in the upcoming general elections. During the three-day visit to India, the AL delegation held meetings with several top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including party president JP Nadda.
A five-member delegation led by AL Presidium member and Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaq visited India from 6 to 9 August at the invitation of the BJP. The Awami League on Thursday held a press conference about the yatra at its Dhanmandi office in the capital. Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaq said in a press briefing that during the three-day visit he came to know that India wants political stability in Bangladesh.
According to party sources, leaders of the ruling party in India and senior officials of the Government of India have emphasized on political stability in Bangladesh. In that context, the new US visa policy and US pressure including sanctions on the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were also discussed during the three-day visit. Indian leaders have said that they are working on these issues in their own way. The effect will be visible gradually.
