The Al leadership thinks that unity of the party is important to deal with the challenges of the coming days. He considers it equally important to publicize the successes of the government as well as show generosity towards the people.
Abu Saeed Al Mahmood Swapan, Central Organizing Secretary of AL, in his speech at the council meeting of Sonaimuri Upazila Unit of Noakhali, unconditionally appealed to the people on behalf of the government, AL MLAs, Upazila Presidents, mayors, union council presidents or party leaders-workers Apologized if they hit them.
“There are some bad people in the Awami League. Don’t punish us because of them.
“Please don’t be arrogant. From now on go to the people and win them over. Beg them and seek their forgiveness and urge them to vote for the boat,” he said.
The party leadership said that Abu Saeed Al Mahmoud’s speech is part of AL’s political strategy. They fear that the unbridled increase in essential commodities could erode people’s support for the ruling party. Furthermore, those who were victims of the wrongdoings of Al leaders and activists may oppose the party. The leadership of the ruling party also insists on reforming the leaders and workers of the party.
Speaking to this correspondent on Friday night, Abu Saeed Al Mahmoud said that the Awami League believes in the power of the party and the people. That is why AL focuses on strengthening the party and reaching out to the people.
He said that there should be no hesitation in apologizing to the people if any leader has hurt them.
