Bangladesh government has decided to affiliate all government colleges to nearest public universities. HSC courses of all colleges are controlled by respective education boards. But undergraduate and post graduate courses are controlled by National University, Gazipur.
National University was established in 1992. Before the establishment of National University, all undergraduate and post graduate courses taught in colleges were controlled by nearest public universities. Controlling these colleges were a huge task for universities. So, at that time government decided to establish a dedicated university for affiliating college courses. But quality of education were always a big concern.

Now latest announcement from government says, undergraduate and post graduate courses of all government colleges will be re-affiliated with nearest public universities like before 1992. Government has also decided to ensure playgrounds, laboratories and libraries in educational institutes. These latest decision came when government is under fierce criticism for very limited allocation of fund for education sector.
