Antibiotic resistance crisis: Experts warn against selling without doctor’s advice

The experts’ recommendation of not using antibiotics without any medical advice should be followed. Medicines are not sold abroad without doctor’s advice. However, the scenario in our country is completely opposite.

The same medications may not work because disease patterns have changed. Research on commonly used medicines in advanced countries is always ongoing.

However, the number of such researches in our country is very less. An expert has stressed the importance of regularly updating guidelines for the use of antibiotics. For this we need more research and experimentation on commonly used medicines.

Apart from doctors and medicine sellers, patients and their families will have to be aware about this. The tendency to use antibiotics should be avoided when any symptoms emerge. In such a situation, there is no option other than patient awareness.
