Referring to a documentary by German media Deutsche Welle on Bangladeshi army personnel in UN peacekeeping missions, the army chief said, “Today, some people presented a report and tried to say that many army personnel violated human rights while posted in other organisations. This is just a rumour. Even if this really happened, were we informed about it?”

Shafiuddin Ahmed said that what is actually happening and what they are trying to say are two completely different things.

The Army Chief said, “Many of our officers and soldiers are posted on deputation at various places, but if they are found involved in any crime there and allegations are made against them, we will prosecute them and take necessary action. We have investigated all the allegations received so far and punished those who were found guilty.”
