The PM said that after August 1975, common people had lost confidence in the army.
He referred to the role of some disgruntled army personnel in the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on August 15, 1975.
He said that since first coming to power in 1996, he has taken steps to restore public confidence and trust in the army.
He said, “I tried to create trust and confidence among the people towards our army, which is very important for an army to protect (its country's) independence and sovereignty.”
