At least 15 people were killed when a train derailed in southern Pakistan on Sunday, the country’s railway minister said.

“It is a huge accident. Rescue teams have reached the spot and at least 15 passengers have died and 45 are injured,” Khwaja Saad Rafiq told reporters.

“More rescue teams have been sent to the scene.”

Local media reported that the incident happened near the Sahara railway station in Nawabshah city of southern Sindh province.

“Eight coaches of the Hazara Express derailed while it was going from Karachi to Abbottabad,” railway official Mohsin Syal told HUM News.
