Rumana Ali’s name was announced at the Awami League’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

Other contenders for the same seat include current MP Iqbal Hussain, Rumana Ali’s elder brother, District Awami League Joint Secretary Jamil Hasan, former Sripur Upazila Council Chairman Abdul Jalil and Awami League leader Sakhawat Hussain Khan.

It is noteworthy that Iqbal Hussain is the General Secretary of Ghazipur District Awami League.

There has been intense tension in the Ghazipur-3 constituency since last Saturday after the party’s nomination was announced, leading to intense discussion and speculation about the final candidate.

Some local Awami League leaders and workers believed that the candidate on this seat would remain unchanged. Meanwhile, there were varying speculations about who within the same family would secure the party’s nomination.
