The statement said that NOAB and the Editorial Council have taken note of the statement of BB spokesperson Mezbaul Haq in this regard.

He said, “From now on, journalists will be able to meet the bank's spokesperson and other officials in its building only by using a specific permit issued by the bank. Only if an officer gives a pass to the journalists, they can meet that officer. However, journalists will not be able to enter any department of the Central Bank unhindered as before.”

The joint statement said the central bank's initiative, as stated by its spokesperson, has the impression of an informal announcement.

The statement said, “NOAB and the Council of Editors believe that this decision of Bangladesh Bank is tantamount to snatching away the freedom of the media. Due to the ban people will be deprived of the right to know the real status and financial position of the bank ” On the other hand, this will increase public distrust of the sector, and will also further encourage irregularities and corruption in the banking and financial sector.”
