Bangladesh cricket team is now having a very good strength. But the only weakness is seen during the power play time. Bangladesh bats well on the top order. They also bat well on the middle order. But they fail to score quick runs in the Batting power Play. The reason of not getting run during power play is lack of hard hitter in that situation. I am giving a prescription to Bangladesh cricket authority which can be productive for the development of team performance.

First select the team as follows:

  1. Tamim Iqbal ………………………..              exp 35
  2. Imrul Kayes…………………………              exp 35
  3. Shahriar Nafees……………………..              exp  30
  4. Mahmudullah Riad……………………  exp 35
  5. Shakib Al Hasan…………………….. exp 40
  6. Mushfiqur Rahim……………………. exp 35
  7. Junaed Siddique/Aftab Ahmed/Kapali.  exp 30
  8. Mashrafee Mortaza…………………              exp  10
  9. Abdur Rajjak Raaj………..                             exp    5
  10. Sohrowardi Shuvo/Shofiul Islam……………exp  5
  11. Rubel Hosain/Shofiul Islam

Mr. Extra………………………….                            10

Total….                                                                       270

Note: exp means expected average run from each batsman in each match.

Strategy 1: Tamim will hit the ball all around and Kayes will play as shit anchor. If Tamim goes well there should be a score of 80 from first 15 over. Tamim will have score of 50 from 50 balls and Kayes will have 30 from 40 balls.

Strategy 2: Then if Tamim goes back then Nafees will carry the innings with Kayes. I expect 150/3 runs on board from 30 over. Say first three has gone to pavilion before 150 runs into 30 overs. Then, Bangladesh will have 120 balls with one power play.

Strategy 3: Mahmudullah and Shakib will carry the innings into 42 over adding more 50 runs. Then they will be 200/3 or 200/4 from 42 overs.

Strategy 4: Then take the power play and score 50 runs from 43rd to 47th over. They will be able to score 50 runs on that situation. Because, someone like Junaed, Aftab or Kapali has the ability to hit the ball all around. Then the score will be 250/5 or 250/6 from 47 overs. Then score more 20-25 runs from last 3 overs.

Give more practice session to the bowlers for batting practice. Just teach them how to play general shots as well as big shots. Teach them how to play with straight bat.

The total score will become 270-275. It is very much good score in Bangladeshi pitch.

According to me, Kapali is the best choice for number 7. Because, he can hit the spinners for long way. He can play good sweep shot, good cover drive and good flick shot too. Moreover, he is a handy leg spinner. He can give you some break through also.
