A parliamentary standing committee on government organizations has proposed that the government should export condoms manufactured in government owned Essential Latex Plant at Khulna. The committee say, quality of Bangladeshi condoms are better than condoms imported from Malaysia. The government owned factory is capable of manufacturing more condoms than the demand of local market. These condoms are manufactured from local raw material latex.

According to Bangladesh demographic and health survey, there is a demand of eighty lakh condoms every day, which means almost three hundred crore condoms are consumed every year in Bangladesh. Fifty six percent of the condoms are supplied by Social Marketing Company under the brand name, Raza, Panther, Sensation and Hero. Government and different NGOs supply twenty four percent and thirteen percent respectively. More than six percent condoms are imported by some private enterprises.
