Bhutanese King enjoys river cruise in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a country of lots of rivers. Visiting Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck today enjoyed a river cruise here boarding on a Bangladesh Army ship.

On their fourth day tour of Bangladesh, the Bhutanese King and members of his entourage started their journey from Postagola at 10 am boarding on the ship, Shakti Sanchar, owned by the 14 Independent Engineering Brigade of Bangladesh Army.

During the four-hour river cruise, they witnessed the beautiful scenery on both banks of the Buriganga, Shitalakhya and Meghna which impressed them heavily. The Bhutanese King also took photos with his camera.

Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque accompanied the Bhutanese King as the minister-in-waiting.

Songs and dance were performed by students of Shaheed Anwar
Girls’ School and College and other local artistes in honour of King Wangchuck, who arrived here on Thursday on a five-day state visit to Bangladesh.

Besides Bangladeshi patriotic songs and dances, they performed Bhutanese songs and dances, which enthralled the King and other guests greatly.

Earlier, on arrival at 14 Independent Engineering Brigade of
Bangladesh Army, the Bhutanese King was received by Brigade
Commander Brigadier General Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar.

Brigadier Siddiq also presented a Nakshi Katha (embroidered
quilt) to Wangchuck.

The Bhutanese King will call on President Zillur Rahman at
Bangabhaban later today and join the state banquet to be hosted
by the President.

Wangchuck will leave for home tomorrow morning.
