The minister was addressing a rally organized jointly by the city, north and south district units of the Awami League at the Polo Ground of the Awami League. Mahtab Uddin Chowdhary, acting president of AL city unit, presided over the programme.
Hasan said Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had demanded independence on March 7, 1971 from Suhrawardy Garden. He said that for this BNP does not like the land and the party wants to create anarchy in Dhaka.
He further said that the polo ground was packed with enthusiasts as eight to 10 times more people were outside the venue. “Eight to 10 times more people than expected have gathered outside the polo ground after the ground was filled as there is huge enthusiasm among the people of Chattogram,” said Hasan, joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League.
