Bangladesh depends heavily on its agriculture. This is not a developed country in terms of industrial growth and capacity. It imports machineries from outside. But it’s a surprising data that about seventy five percent of agricultural machine tools are manufactured in Bangladesh right now. Northern district Bogra is leading the revolution. Locally made machines are competing with Indian and Chinese machines. But farmers prefer local machines because of its quality. Some factories of Bogra are also exporting their products to neighboring countries.
According to legend a mechanic Dhulu established a factory for light machinery in the forties. That was the beginning and later many others joined. But the real growth started during the eighties. Some innovative mechanics of Bogra led the revolution. These factories are selling machineries of about one thousand crore taka every year and saving huge amount of foreign exchange.
Some entrepreneurs allege that there is not government policy for the sector and they hardly receive help from the government. Foreign companies destroyed many industries of the country so it’s high time to take some steps in favor of these factories because these are saving foreign exchange and creating job opportunity for many people.
