Commenting on Archer’s performance, skipper Jos Buttler, who won the accolade for his blistering century, said, “It was brilliant and probably deserves the player of the match award.”
“When the game was in the balance, to come back there and take the wicket of (Heinrich) Klaasen opened the game up for us.”
England will hope that a fully fit Archer will help them regain the Ashes from Australia and retain the 50-over World Cup title in India later this year.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports, “He’s a fantastic fast bowler and it’s great to have him back in international cricket.”
“He is like gold dust and needs to be looked after. He is very valuable to English cricket and world cricket. He is very good at the box office.”
