BPL inaugural ceremony debate

It is believed that Bangla language and culture is more than a thousand year old. Though our culture and language has changed to cope with time, but we have a rich and distinct culture. We struggled against Urdu in Pakistan era. Many pro Pakistanis tried to say that Bengali culture is not a Muslim culture and we should avoid that. Bengalis didn’t accept it, they continued their culture.

Now independent Bangladesh suffers another cultural aggression, this time it is not from Pakistan, it is from India. Bangladeshi television channels are not allowed in India, but Indian Bangla and Hindi television channels are becoming more and more popular among the young generation. Many of today’s boys and girls prefer speaking in Hindi. They do not know Bangla well, and of course they do know English at all.

Recent BPL inaugural ceremony was a colorful demonstration of Indian culture. This type of song and dance by half naked performers is not accepted here. Now the cultural activists are demanding an apology from the organizers.
