Rodrigo Lassmar, the Brazilian team doctor, did not give a definite timetable for his return.
Brazil will top the group with a draw or a win. If they lose and Switzerland beat Serbia, the top spot will be decided on goal difference.
The Swiss are second with three points, two ahead of Serbia and Cameroon, and will advance with a win.
Serbia and Cameroon need to win to have any chance of progressing and if they both succeed then second place will be decided on goal difference.
