At least ten people including bride and groom were killed when a microbus carrying weeding party was hit by train at a level crossing at northern district Sirajgonj. It was around 6:30 pm local time when the microbus was trying to cross rail track at Solop level crossing. Dhaka bound train Padma Express hit the microbus carrying weeding party. Fire Service and Civil Defence officials have informed that the death toll may rise. Railway authority has formed a four member inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
It is reported that there were no gates man in that level crossing. It has only signboards asking people to cross with their own responsibility. Local union parishad chairman has alleged that, locals have long been demanding gates-man in that level crossing but railway authority never heed to their demand.
