BUET authorities banned student politics after the murder of Abrar Fahad on campus in 2019. However, student politics is going to resume in BUET after the High Court order on Monday.
In this context, the students urged the Vice Chancellor and teachers of BUET to take initiative to ban student politics on the campus. The student made the same demand from the Prime Minister in a press conference on Tuesday.
Five BUET students read the open letter addressed to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the press conference.
The letter reads, “We do not understand the complexities of violent politics; We only know how to love the country and its people. We are committed to proving this through our activities. Honorable Prime Minister, we saw only the negative sides of the exercise of power in the name of student politics. It was student politics that started trends like establishing dominance, ragging, harassing teachers, extortion, torturing students and even murder.”
