BUET students stop demo for the day, VC asks for time

The students protesting in the conference highlighted five points in the press conference. They are: Permanent expulsion of Imtiaz Rabbi, a 21st batch student of the Department of Civil Engineering and member of the BCL Central Committee, and cancellation of his hostel seat, as he was the main organizer of a political gathering on the campus on Wednesday night in violation of university rules. Were; expelling Imtiaz Rabbi's assistants from their hostels and campus for varying periods; Clear answers from the BUET authority on why and how outsiders with political identities entered the campus and whether legal action will be taken against them; Resignation of DSW if first two not met soon; And gave written assurance of not taking any action against the protesting students for harassing them.

The protesting students, in their written statement at the media conference, said that some top leaders of a certain political organization entered the BUET campus through the main entrance on March 28 at around 1:00 pm, however, thereafter any normal student was not allowed to enter the campus. Not allowed to enter. For security reasons at 10:30 pm. But at midnight, outsiders with political identities entered the campus. Not only them, one after another political leaders and workers gathered in front of BUET main gate and entered the campus carrying bouquets after 2 am in a huge procession.

It was also said in the written statement that in a university where organizational politics is prohibited, such a large political gathering at night and the entry of outsiders is insulting to the dignity of the campus. It also raises serious questions on the safety of students and the campus. The University Administration and the Directorate of Student Welfare cannot in any way escape their liabilities in this regard.

The statement further said that students find it impossible for outsiders connected with politics to enter the BUET campus at midnight avoiding the prying eyes of the authorities and DSW. Even after one and a half days of the incident, no response has been received from DSW regarding the incident.

It is still not clear how they got permission from the authorities to enter the premises at midnight. It said that these incidents on the campus hinder the safety of general students.

BUET students were protesting in front of the DSW office at the time of filing the report at 5 pm.
