Channel i, a popular satellite TV channel in the country, will observe its 12th founding anniversary on October 1.
On the occasion, Ananda Alo, a fortnightly entertainment magazine, arranged a round-table meeting on the Channel i premises at Tejgaon on Monday.
Titled Jugpurtir Ananda: Kemon Anusthan Dekhte Chai, the meeting was attended, among others, by Shykh Siraj, news director of channel i; Dr Syed Anwar Husain, editor of daily sun; Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, chief editor of Manabjamin; Abed Khan, veteran journalist; filmmakers Salahuddin Zaki, Amzad Hossain and Chashi Nazrul Islam; theatre personality Mamunur Rashid, Professor Asif Nazrul, cultural personalities Dr Sarwar Ali, Shahabuddin Nagori and Ganosangeet singer Fakir Alamgir.
At the meeting, the invited guests stressed the need for making quality programmes which will carry the values of our own culture and tradition.
They asked the producers to make programmes on the Liberation War for children.
They also emphasised the accuracy of pronunciation in TV programmes. To compete with the foreign channels, there is no alternative to producing quality programmes, the speakers said. They all lauded Channel i for its positive role until now.
