Confusion over opening schools amid summer: Ministry's hasty decision

The Education Minister has said that educational institutions should not be closed due to heat wave in any particular area across the country. But, how can he be sure that heat wave is not going on outside these 27 districts?

When meteorologists are saying that there is no possibility of rain before May 2, then the policy makers of the Education Ministry should have followed the order to keep educational institutions closed till May 2.

Already on May 1, schools will remain closed for May Day. In such a situation, keeping educational institutions outside 27 districts open on April 30 is an arbitrary decision.

If educational institutions remain closed for a day, the loss can be compensated by taking classes on holidays. But, if any teacher or student is affected by educational institutions remaining open amid the heat wave, there will be no way to fix it.

We believe that where the safety of lakhs of students is involved, there is no scope for obstinacy.
