On October 11 last year, Inspector Morshed Hussain Khan, the investigating officer of the case, submitted the final report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka, clearing Rozina of the charges.
Khan said in the report that no truth was found in the complaint filed against Rosina.
On May 17 last year, Rozina was confined in a room in the health services division of the secretariat for more than five hours on charges of shoving away important government documents and taking photographs of the papers.
Rosina denied any wrongdoing. His aides said he could be targeted because of his reports on alleged irregularities in the health ministry amid the coronavirus pandemic. Her family also complained that she was physically assaulted while being kept at the Secretariat.
Rosina was handed over to the police the same night. He was taken from the secretariat to the Shahbag police station. She was released on bail on 23 May.
Rosina’s arrest was condemned by media activists and rights organizations. Human Rights Watch said that Rosina’s detention was “a major strike against media freedom”.
