At least 10 people were killed due to cyclone Remal in the coastal districts of the country.

These deaths occurred in Khulna, Satkhira, Barishal, Patuakhali, Bhola and Chittagong districts. Many areas were submerged due to floods caused by the cyclone.

State Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mohibur Rahman gave this information in a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

Cyclone Remal made landfall near Mongla coast and Khepupara coast at around 8:00 pm on Sunday. The maximum sustained wind speed within 64 kilometres (40 miles) of the cyclone centre was 90 kilometres per hour, increasing to a gust or storm of 120 kilometres per hour. Tidal surges were observed in many areas and dams were breached in several districts.
