Media reports that 400 Rohingya had been killed were “not true”, with the junta statement saying action would be taken against outlets that published the figures.
Since a military coup that overthrew an elected government more than two years ago, the junta has arrested journalists and shut down outlets deemed critical of its regime.
Junta-backed media reported on Friday that naval ships and the air force had brought thousands of bags of rice, while thousands of electricians, firefighters and rescue workers were deployed to Rakhine.
According to the newspaper Global New Light of Myanmar, normal flight service had resumed at Sittwe Airport on Thursday.
AFP correspondents said some international aid groups, including the UN World Food Programme, were working in Sittwe this week.
A junta spokesman did not answer questions about whether UN agencies would be given access to displacement camps outside Sittwe, home to the Rohingya.
