Sub-inspector (SI) and duty officer of Sitakunda police station, Farooq Hussain, told Prothom Alo that lorry supervisor Minar Uddin identified 24 persons as plaintiffs and registered a case against 224 persons at Sitakunda police station.

After the incident, raids were conducted at various places in Sitakund and the arrest operation is still going on.

While several persons were arrested last night, their actual involvement requires verification before the exact number of arrests can be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka-Chattogram highway appeared to be operating normally since morning.

There were no reports of blockade on the 25 km long highway from Kumira in Sitakunda to Citygate in Chattogram city, with only one incident reported in which a person was robbed and killed during the night.
