A court of Pabna on Tuesday summoned Grameen Bank founder Dr Mohammad Yunus and three other officials in a case regarding bloated telephone bills sent to a Grameen village phone subscriber.
The three other officials are Mahbubur Rahman, zonal manager of Pabna zonal office, Md Masud Reza, administrative officer of the zonal office, and Md Habibur Rahman, Ataikula branch manager of Grameen Bank.
Abdul Mazed, a former manager of Grameen Bank Ganguhati centre in Ataikhali, filed the case with the Senior Judicial Court-3 Tuesday morning alleging that Palli Phone, owned by Grameen Telecom, had sent ghost bills to a telephone subscriber.
The court has asked the accused to appear before the court on May 18, 2011.
In his statement, the plaintiff said he selected a village woman for providing Palli Phone in 2004.
Later, the woman received an abnormal bill of Tk 76,000.
The bank started pressing Mazed to clear the bill as the lady got the phone through him, he added. Mazed had to pay the money.
Mazed left the job last year and decided to file the case
