Education minister considering opening schools on Friday to compensate for shutdown: Dhaka official

On Monday, the HC ordered the closure of primary and secondary schools and madrassas till Thursday due to the heat wave in the country.

Following advice from the Health Ministry and Bangladesh Meteorological Department, all secondary schools, colleges, madrassas and technical educational institutions were ordered to remain closed on Monday.

On Sunday, the Education Ministry said in a circular that educational institutions with air conditioning will be allowed to operate if authorities wish.

The heat wave has been raging in the country for the last few days and there are reports of deaths of people due to heat wave every day.

The decision to open educational institutions amid the scorching heat was heavily criticized across the country.

In such a situation, HC on Monday ordered educational institutions to remain closed till Thursday.
