According to the resolution, the human rights situation in Bangladesh has deteriorated significantly, including issues such as extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, limitations on freedom of expression and workers’ rights.
The resolution also urged the government to immediately and unconditionally withdraw all charges against representatives of the human rights organization Adhikar and to reinstate the organization’s registration. Additionally, the government has been called upon to facilitate the use of approved foreign grants by civil society organizations.
The resolution underlines the importance of respecting due process, and urges governments and judicial authorities to respect international standards and to cooperate with United Nations bodies to meet these standards; Insists that international observers are allowed to attend court hearings.
