FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said that Halal market is growing in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries.
He said a significant portion of the halal industry came from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was valued at US$3.7 trillion in 2020.
He said, in the financial year 2022-2023, halal products worth $843.03 million were exported from Bangladesh, of which 70 percent were exported to Muslim countries.
The FBCCI President said, “In order to provide Halal certification and symbol to local manufacturers and commercial companies, the government formed the Department of Halal Certification (DHC) under the Islamic Foundation in 2007. But Halal certification in Bangladesh still faces significant hurdles. is facing.”
