Bangladeshi businesses have demanded that the central bank sell more dollars from foreign exchange reserves to help banks issue letters of credit for importing products during Ramadan.
Leaders of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry met Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukdar on Monday regarding the demands.
During Ramzan, apart from the demand for food, the pressure of import of many other products increases. Half of our business is focused on Ramadan. We have asked the central bank to supply dollars from reserves, if necessary, to deal with the situation, FBCCI president Jashim Uddin said after the meeting.
