According to local administration, public representatives and flood victims, around 600 areas and villages in the city and district were submerged on Monday.
The worst affected areas are Gowaighata and Kampaniganj upazilas, where roads have been submerged in water at various places, cutting off road connectivity. A large portion of crop fields and ponds have also been submerged, causing losses to farmers.
At least 69 unions were reported to be trapped by the floods till last night. The authorities have set up a total of 538 shelters for flood victims, while 68 have already been used.
