Foreign Minister (FM) Hassan Mahmood MP has called on the international community to abstain from any new weapons, let alone autonomous weapons, for the sake of humanity.
He underlined the importance of benevolent application of artificial intelligence in various productive sectors including agriculture, medical science, space exploration, climate change and creating employment opportunities for the benefit of mankind and not in weapon systems to wipe out humanity.
He raised the question of what would happen to international peace and security if non-state actors and terrorist organizations had access to AI-powered autonomous weapons systems.
