Four policemen found involved in extortion.

Usually people complain about extortion by police and police denies that. But in Rajshahi eight policemen was found guilt in a police enquiry.

Dr Rafiq Basunia complained that eight policemen took tk one lakh from him. The policemen said he (the complainant) has illegally stored Indian garlic. They will exempt him from legal action if he pays tk one lakh.

Dr Rafiq Basunia paid that money. After then he complained and demanded his money back.

Dr Rafiq Basunia does garlic business, so he buys garlic from the market, stores in his house and sell those from there. He also has farmland where garlic is grown. So that garlic is also stored in his house.

A police enquiry found those eight policemen guilty and they were arrested yesterday after an extortion case was filed against them.

The eight policemen are AC Towfiqul Islam, Masud Rana, and Matiar Rahman, sub-inspectors of Rajpara Police Station, and constables Atiqur Rahman, Sujan and Islam Ali, Golam Mortuza, and driver Akter Hossain.
