Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saheli Sebrin has said that if India objects to China’s proposed Teesta project, the government will deal with the issue from a geopolitical perspective.
He made this comment at the ministry’s regular briefing today, Sunday.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen said on December 21, “We have already received proposals from Bangladesh for some development projects related to the Teesta River. We are waiting till the next general elections. China is interested in working in the development of Teesta River. We hope that the work on the Teesta project will start after the January 7 elections.”
