Global financial depression increased suicide among men

suicide-2Historically suicide rate is high among women compared to men. But a recent study suggests that women were less affected by the global financial depression.

The study was conducted on suicide data of fifty four countries among people aged over fifteen. The study reveals that suicide rate is increased among men by 3.3 percent. This study is published on British Medical Journal.

There is direct relationship between suicide and unemployment. Suicide trend spread in twenty seven European and eighteen American countries. There was about five thousand increased suicide case in the year 2009 when unemployment rate was increased by thirty seven percent.

Suicide rate among women remained almost same in Europe, but slightly increased in America. May be traditional norm which says, men have to take the responsibility, is creating the extra pressure on men.
