The entertainment awards body said Thursday that next year’s Golden Globes will take place on Jan. 7, amid intense scrutiny over allegations of corruption and racism in recent years.
The nominations will be announced on December 11, the organization said in a statement. The combined film and television awards have long been considered one of the most prestigious awards in Hollywood after the Oscars.
But after the Los Angeles Times in 2021 revealed the dismal backstage operations of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which made up the competition’s jury, the Golden Globes have lost their luster among many in the industry.
