Poor and unemployed women of five monga-prone districts of the Bangladesh will get $29 million credit from World Bank as a support of unemployment.
Women of Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari and Rangpur districts are going to get the benefit primarily. People especially women of these areas are very vulnerable and often do not have anything to eat. This is a phenomenon known as Monga to common people.
The loan was approved for the Northern Areas’ Reduction of Poverty Initiative (NARI) project. Around eleven thousand such women will get help from this project.
These women will get help from the project to get themselves employed in different sectors like garments and in different EPZs(Export Processing Zones) of the country.
