Two government agencies have sent test reports of mosquito larvicide BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) bacteria imported from China using the name of a well-known Singapore-based company to the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Test results say it is effective against the larvae.

The government’s Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and the Plant Protection Wing of the Agriculture Extension Department conducted the trials of imported BTIs for DNCC. Both agencies sent the rest of the test results on Sunday.

Marshall Agrovet Chemical Industries, the local contracting agency, was the supplier of this consignment of BTI provided to DNCC. As per the condition of the tender, there was no scope for importing BTI. Although the agency brought it from China, it used the name of the Singaporean company on the label.
