Law Minister Anisul Haq has said that under the existing law, the government has nothing to do with the treatment of Khaleda Zia abroad.
He made this comment today, Monday, in response to a journalist’s question at the Secretariat.
The Law Minister held a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Freedom of Expression and Opinion Irene Khan before speaking to journalists.
BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was sent to jail on 8 February 2018 after she was convicted in two corruption cases involving Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust. The former Prime Minister was imprisoned for more than two years.
