Existing Grameen Phone users need not replace their SIM to enter 3G network said by the CEO of grameen phone in a press conference in a hotel in Dhaka.
From the beginning of October, 3G network of Grameen Phone will be available at a few selected areas of Dhaka and Chittagong. By November Dhaka, Gajipur and Narayangonj will be covered under 3G network. By December seven divisional cities will be under the coverage of Grameen phone 3G. The whole country will be under the coverage of 3G network by march 2014.
Grameen Phone has been awarded 10 Mega Hertz spectrums by the BTRC. It took Grameen Phone a sum of Taka one thousand and 632 crore to get the license.
According to BTRC by July there are 10 crore 69 lakh 34 thousand mobile subscribers. Out of these there are 4 crore 46 lakh 66 thousand subscribers are of Grameen Phone. 90 lakh subscribers are using the internet.
