Gyanvapi Masjid: Worship begins in basement hours after court order

The Varanasi District Court in India said on Wednesday that Hindus have the right to worship in the basement of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Uttar Pradesh. Although the court asked the authorities to make arrangements for Hindus to pray there within seven days, worship took place in the basement within hours of the court order. District officials said the puja took place at 3:00 am on Wednesday.

With this, a new chapter of the debate centered on Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Gyanvapi Mosque has started. District Judge Krishna Mohan Pandey issued the order yesterday on his last working day before retirement.
