The war began with an unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7, resulting in the deaths of about 1,170 people in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of Israeli official figures.
Israel's retaliatory strikes have killed at least 34,356 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry.
Israel estimates there are 129 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza, 34 of whom have been killed according to the military.
Missiles fired from Israeli jets struck Gaza City on Friday, killing at least three people in the Rimal neighborhood, an AFP correspondent said.
“I was sitting selling cigarettes and suddenly a missile hit, shaking the whole area,” a witness who declined to be named told AFP. He said that the bodies of a man, a woman and a little girl have been taken out from the debris.
Meanwhile, the baby born to his dying mother has died in Rafah at the weekend, the girl's uncle said. When she was born, doctors called her a “miracle.”
But Rami al-Sheikh told AFP on Friday that his niece Rooh had “joined her family in the Gardens of Eternity”, after her mother was badly injured in the Israeli strike.
