Anindya Islam, BNP organizing secretary for Khulna division, said Aminur maintains social status as a college teacher, but the police is treating him like a top criminal. This is a blatant violation of human rights.
When contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Jashore Belal Hussain declined to comment on the issue.
Jailor Shariful Alam of Jashore Central Jail said Aminur had a history of heart complications. When he developed heart complications in jail, he was first taken to Jashore General Hospital and later to Dhaka.
However, after several days of treatment in Dhaka, he was taken back to Jashore from Dhaka Central Jail on Tuesday.
