High Court orders top Transcom Group executives to return home without any hindrance

The High Court on Sunday ordered that the top three executives of Transcom Group surrender before the court without any hindrance in the case registered at Gulshan police station on March 22 within 72 hours of returning home.

The HC bench of Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order after a preliminary hearing on a writ petition.

The top three executives are Transcom Group Chairman Shahnaz Rehman, Chief Executive Officer Simin Rehman and Head of Transformation Zaraf Ayat Hussain.

Simin's younger sister Shajreh Haq has filed the case. According to the complaint, Shajreh and Simin's brother Arshad Waliur Rehman, who died nine months ago, were murdered.

On 22 February, Shajareh filed three separate cases at Gulshan Police Station, accusing eight executives of Transcom Group, including the chairman and CEO.

According to lawyers, Shahnaz, Simin and Zarif were out of the country before the case was registered.

A writ petition was filed in the High Court seeking protection for the accused to return to the country and participate in the legal process. On March 20, HC passed the order along with the rules.

Shazareh appealed against this order before the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division. The chamber judge's court passed the order after hearing the appeal on March 21.
