Security forces are keeping a close watch on the camps, but the situation could spiral out of control if the Rohingya are not repatriated by Myanmar, the minister warned.

Khan said surveillance on the camps has been stepped up to prevent bloodshed and ensure that settlements do not become “safe havens” for terrorists.

According to him, the construction of barbed wire fencing around the camps is also in the final stages while security forces are cracking down on drug smuggling from across the border.

Khan said the government is also planning to build a hospital at Bhasan Char to provide better health care to the Rohingyas.
