Later, the police investigated the two cases and filed charges against Khadijatul Kubra and Dilawar Hussain in May last year. The Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka took cognizance of the allegations and issued arrest warrants against the accused.
Khadijatul Kubra was later arrested by the New Market police on 17 September. Since then he is in jail.
The trial court had rejected the bail application of the accused twice. Later, in February this year, the High Court allowed his plea for bail. However, the bail order was later stayed by the chamber judge following a petition by the state.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Khadijatul Kubra’s lawyer Jyotirmoy Baruah said, “The Jagannath University student was granted bail by the High Court on February 16. However, later the chamber judge stayed the bail order. In this regard, there will be a hearing in the full bench of the Appellate Bench.
